OBJECTIVE 3

INSTITUTIONAL CONNECTIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Dialoguing with indigenous representatives of different ethnicities and communities is one of the core guidelines of Instituto Maracá. That is why our objectives include maintaining, expanding and strengthening our network of connections with specialists, thinkers, leaders and representatives of the different peoples in Brazil.

Connecting with different indigenous collaborators is key to the conception and execution of Instituto Maracá’s projects, enabling tandem work to lay down the conceptual guidelines for each project.

By joining various forums, meetings, exchange efforts, conferences, debates, events and other activities, Instituto Maracá’s team, collaborators and partners get to learn, share knowledge and experiences, build new relationships and connections, engage in dialogue and advance their opinions, positions and ideas.

Dialogue between indigenous partners, advisors and other representatives takes place during specific meetings, projects and activities we carry out, as well as on other meeting opportunities.

Moreover, to outline our strategies and actions, we strive to keep track of and join academic discussions regarding aspects of our work, as well as discussions and participative policymaking efforts relating to indigenous peoples in our fields of work.

We also encourage and support the participation of our team and collaborators in debates with indigenous and non-indigenous professors and researchers, NGOs, public and private institution managers, and anyone looking to support or help us with our work.

As a means of steering and guiding our work and the conceptual and thematic approach to our projects, we always strive to:

  • Participate in networking forums with other indigenous organizations and representatives

  • Track the formulation and implementation of public policies concerning indigenous peoples;

  • Dialogue with researchers and research institutions;

  • Dialogue with private institutions, particularly those involved in culture and education
