OBJECTIVE 2

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AND INDIGENOUS COLLABORATOR TRAINING PROJECTS

To create public-facing projects such as exhibitions, curations and events, as well as cultural heritage protection actions, communities must be strong and active. Additionally, there need to be indigenous representatives who are ready, willing and able to do such work.

That is why we create projects to provide training to indigenous collaborators with Instituto Maracá, as well as projects to culturally empower indigenous communities.

STAFF AND COLLABORATOR TRAINING

These are projects and actions to train, educate and qualify indigenous representatives to work freely and autonomously in various fields on behalf of their communities.

Instituto Maracá staff training and empowerment also takes place in our day-to-day work, through participation in our actions and projects, as well as in events, forums, meetings and debates. With each new meeting, we broaden our circle of discussions, delve deeper into dialogue and reflection, create ideas and knowledge, learn and fine-tune our work.

CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

These are projects for empowering indigenous communities, their practices and traditions, with an emphasis on cultural heritage protection, management of memory, cultural production, knowledge relay, cultural inventorying, and projects relating to school education, health care, the environment, housing and the general protection of indigenous peoples’ rights.
