INDIGENOUS TALES

Mbaraka Pará, Ajaka Pará, Ayvu Porã

The indigenous tales traditionally expressed through words, drawings and sounds are now also relayed in written form. This meeting of traditional storytellers, writers, singers, artists and thinkers featured traditional and contemporary indigenous tales, eliciting reflection on the different forms of expression of indigenous peoples.

The event was held by Instituto Maracá in partnership with the Goethe Institut, and it featured 11 indigenous speakers who discussed indigenous tales, drawing connections between words (ayvu), sounds (parã) and graphisms (ajaka pará). The speakers were: Carlos Papá, Cristine Takuá, Ailton Krenak, Sueli Maxakali, Delcida Maxakali, Denilson Baniwa, Sandra Benites, Olívio Jekupe, Timóteo Popygua, Florinda Guarani, Hortêncio Guarani and other representatives of villages in the city of São Paulo.
